What to do with unwanted furniture
Separate reusable items from broken ones first. Collection for reuse and waste collection are different services.
If furniture is in good condition
Photograph it, note dimensions and describe defects. Offer it to friends, sell it or arrange donation for reuse. Kierrätyskeskus accepts items under its own terms; collection does not guarantee acceptance of every item.
If the item is broken
Check your local waste operator’s rules. HSY offers Sortti-nouto for large items in the capital region. The checked page lists €70–140; the final price depends on the order. This is that service’s range, not a Finnish average.
What to prepare
- Dimensions, item count and photos of the condition.
- Floor, lift availability and carrying route.
- Confirmation of who disassembles furniture and what is included.
- A backup plan if the item is not accepted for reuse.
Do not leave large furniture beside ordinary bins without an agreed collection arrangement.
